Red Velvet Crinkles

Chocolate Crinkles with a festive red holiday twist! These chocolate cookies are super fudgy and taste like a brownie in the center.

Christmas is five days away and you still have time to make these amazing cookies for Santa! One of my favorite Christmas cookies is chocolate crinkles. I was looking for a new recipe this year when I came across these red velvet crinkles from Bromabakery. I gave them a try and they did not disappoint! I made a few tweaks to the recipe and am sharing my additions below. Hope you all enjoy!

Don’t forget to enjoy these cookies with a cold glass of milk!

Red Velvet Crinkles

2 cups all purpose flour

1/3 cup cocoa powder

1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/2 cup butter, softened

3/4 cup brown sugar

1/2 cup granulated sugar

1 teaspoon red food coloring

2 eggs, room temperature

1 and 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract

For topping:

  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar

Process

  1. Using a stand mixer, beat the butter and sugars on high speed until creamy, about 2 minutes.
  2. Add in the egg, vanilla, and food coloring and continue to beat until incorporated about 1 minute. Scrape down the edges of the bowl with a rubber spatula.
  3. Whisk together the dry ingredients and slowly add to the stand mixer. When it’s just mixed and incorporated, grab a cookie scoop and drop rounded tbsp of dough onto a parchment lined cookie sheet. Roll each cookie in granulated sugar and then powdered sugar.
  4. Bake at 350 for 10 minutes!
